It was the first joint congress on evolutionary biology bringing together five professional societies: American Society of Naturalists, Canadian Society for Ecology and Evolution, European Society for Evolutionary Biology, Society for the Study of Evolution and Society of Systematic Biologists. <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/personnel\/pd_Akcay\" target=\"_blank\">Erol\u00a0Ak\u00e7ay<\/a> (former postdoc), <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/personnel\/gras\" target=\"_blank\">Mauricio Gonz\u00e1lez-Forero<\/a> (graduate assistant), <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/personnel\/pd_Lelu\" target=\"_blank\">Maud L\u00e9lu<\/a> (postdoc), and <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/personnel\/pd_Thibert-Plante\" target=\"_blank\">Xavier Thibert-Plante<\/a> (postdoc) presented their recent results in well-attended sessions. In addition, former NIMBioS Songwriter-in-Residence <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/songwriter.html\" target=\"_blank\">Baba Brinkman<\/a> presented his famous <a href=\"http:\/\/bababrinkman.bandcamp.com\/album\/the-rap-guide-to-evolution-revised\" target=\"_blank\">Rap Guide to Evolution<\/a> and gave the world premier performance of the NIMBioS-sponsored song, <a href=\"http:\/\/bababrinkman.bandcamp.com\/track\/mad-scientist-talkin-nerdy\" target=\"_blank\">Mad Scientist (Talkin&#8217; Nerdy)<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Current and former NIMBioS researchers gathered in Ottawa last week for the Evolution 2012 conference.
