NIMBioS Associate Director for Education &amp; Outreach <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/personnel\/dir_lenhart\" target=\"_blank\">Suzanne Lenhart<\/a> and Education &amp; Outreach Coordinator <a href=\"https:\/\/legacy.nimbios.org\/personnel\/staff\" target=\"_blank\">Kelly Sturner\u00a0<\/a> helped teach the series of three workshops, all targeting teachers in different East Tennessee counties. The workshops&#8217; goal was to introduce teachers to a popular &#8220;STEM in a box&#8221; type activities, including the University of Tennessee and NIMBioS&#8217; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bio.utk.edu\/biologyinbox\/\" target=\"_blank\">Biology in a Box<\/a> as well as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.roanestate.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\">Roane State Community College<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orau.org\/default.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">ORAU<\/a>&#8216;s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.orau.org\/science-education\/success-stories\/lab-in-a-box.aspx\" target=\"_blank\">Lab-in-a-Box<\/a>. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.stemspark.com\/article.php?id=76\" target=\"_blank\">STEMSpark<\/a>, the East Tennessee STEM education hub &#8212; a network of educators and professionals &#8212; hosted the workshops.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/stemspark.weebly.com\/photo-galleries.html\" target=\"_blank\">More pictures from the events here!<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Middle school science teachers from across East Tennessee were introduced to inquiry-based activities at the intersection of math and science during several training workshops this fall.
