Use UT-visitor or NIMBIOS computer to do this part

• If you don't know your UT Net-ID, you can look yourself up in the directory here:
  https://directory.utk.edu/
• To activate the new netid go here:
  • https://ds.utk.edu/passwords/setup.asp
• Remember your UTK netid and password. You can go to OIT in the Library if you need it reset.

• Switch wireless networks to UT-open.
• It should automatically redirect you to https://netreg.utk.edu/ to register your computer. Follow the websites instruction. You will need your netid and password. It request you to reboot the machine after registering. That is the easiest way to reset the wireless to use ut-open correctly.
• UT-open is available across the campus/dorms and is the primary wireless network.

• 32 or 64 bit? how to check:

• I have dvds with the downloads to the latest version for win 32, win 64, and osx. Copying them will bypass the download and associated wait.
  • copy dir to you disk from the dvd
  • start the automatic downloads script per instructions below and change the save location to where you moved the files. hit “no” to not overwrtie the files. The script will carry on with the copied files

• Your netid gives you access to other software as well. Choose home use for your laptop. Legally I believe you are supposed to remove the software after leaving UT. Most major software have yearly renewal. If you have any questions you can ask NIMBIOS staff or UTK Helpdesk.
