Summary. Computational epidemiology continues to make the impact of vaccination programs measurable. In response to growing needs, an increasing number of computational models of infectious diseases have been introduced to answer specific questions, including optimal deployment of vaccines, expected demand for vaccines, and economics of vaccination programs. This mini-symposium will highlight recent developments in epidemic modeling with novel approaches that account for human behavior and heterogeneity in model parameters. Moreover, this mini-symposium is geared as a forum to brainstorm about how modelers can contribute to public-health decision-making by developing interdisciplinary approaches combining epidemic modeling, economics, and social science.
