How to propose a new Investigative Workshop
NIMBioS INVESTIGATIVE WORKSHOPS
NIMBioS Investigative Workshops focused on a broad topic or set of related topics at the interface of biology and mathematics and had a relatively large size of up to 35 participants. Workshops attempted to summarize and synthesize the state of the art and identify future directions, and they had potential for leading to future Working Groups. NIMBioS Investigative Workshops have produced more than 150 journal papers, 86 presentations or posters, 2 book chapters, and 12 grant proposals.
Research Highlights:
- Emerging disease kills North American bat species. Science.
- New and interesting perspectives on the nature of leadership. Trends in Ecology & Evolution.
- Mathematical models describe aspects of the territorial dynamics of historical empires over 3,000 years. Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.
- The "Iceberg Phenomenon" in Johne's disease evaluated through mathematical modeling. PLOS ONE.
- Landcover maps used to inform spatial epidemic models. PLOS Computational Biology.
- Global mapping of infectious disease evaluated. Philosophical Transactions of The Royal Society B.
