Welcome! These are exciting and challenging times for all of us and here at NIMBioS, we are changing and reinventing ourselves to help our community of researchers meet these challenges. While the past twelve years have seen our first incarnation play an instrumental role in the growth of the field of quantitative biology, our next phase will help that now-existing community to thrive. We look forward to continuing in the best traditions of research, outreach, and education, even though the details for how we will support each of those core activities will be shifting a bit. We hope our friends, old and new will be excited to help build a sustainable and valuable resource together for us all.
In the next year or so, come back frequently to see exciting new changes. We'll be adding people and projects meant to build our capacity to convene, unite, and support researchers from all over the globe. Each new initiative will be based on lessons we've learned over the past decade of fostering our amazingly productive interdisciplinary working groups, workshops, and tutorials - our goal is to take those lessons and help everyone benefit from them in meaningful and material ways. Most immediately, we'll be offering support for interdisciplinary grant proposal preparation for activities relating to quantitative biology, and we'll be offering project management and coordination support to help researchers overcome some of the standard struggles in collaborative research across fields. And these are just the beginning!
We're currently holding off on announcing programs that rely on in-person meetings or travel, most due to the ongoing uncertainties surrounding COVID-19, but if you have an activity you'd like to run at NIMBioS in the future, please don't hesitate to contact us.
NIMBioS is buzzing with activity and excitement as we shift into this next phase of our existence and we want to hear from you! What haven't we thought about doing that would help our research community in quantitative biology? Are there intiatives you would be interested in leading with our help or in having us lead for you? Please be in touch and stay tuned!
