NIMBioS Facilities
The National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis is centrally located on the University of Tennessee-Knoxville campus in the Philander P. Claxton Education Building, 1122 Volunteer Boulevard. NIMBioS occupies the first (ground-level) floor with its main office in Suite 106. Seminars and other large classroom events take place on the 2nd floor in either the Hallam Auditorium or the Hopper Classroom, which is equipped for video-conferencing and web-casting.
The NIMBioS space also includes the Franklin Classroom, the Darwin Conference Room, the Fisher Conference Room, the Kovalevskaya Meeting Room, and a large informal break area, which displays the cellular automaton model called The Game of Life. Offices for postdoctoral fellows and visiting researchers are located on the same floor as the meeting facilities.
Outdoor space consists of several courtyards with picnic tables and ample seating, as well as Blueberry Falls with a landscaped garden, blueberry bushes and small waterfall.
NIMBioS has Linux workstations and servers, with some Windows machines. NIMBioS has 80 Terabytes of backup and storage, access to many mathematical software packages, a 128-core Linux cluster, and a 56-core SMP.
