As Director of the National Institute for STEM Evaluation and Research Dr. Bishop and her team provide high quality, responsive external evaluation services to the STEM research and education sector. As Associate Director for STEM Evaluation at NIMBioS, Dr. Bishop evaluates interdisciplinary scientific research groups, K-16 and graduate-level interdisciplinary educational programs, and outreach events aimed at promoting teaching, learning, and research at the intersection of mathematics and biology.

Dr. Bishop is also an Adjunct Professor in the Evaluation, Statistics, and Measurement Program in the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.

Dr. Bishop has worked as a professional evaluator of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) research and education programs since 2006. She holds a bachelor's degree in plant sciences, a master's degree in entomology and plant pathology, and a Ph.D. in evaluation, statistics, and measurement.

Dr. Bishop has held evaluation positions at both the state and federal level. Her evaluation expertise includes experience with site visit observations, participant and stakeholder interviews, survey methodology, evaluation and research design, network measures, and statistical analysis of data. As the Tennessee state evaluator for the federally-funded Mathematics and Science Partnership (MSP) program, Dr. Bishop was responsible for evaluating 22 teacher professional development programs in mathematics and science across the state for teacher and student-level outcomes.

As an external program evaluator at the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, Dr. Bishop worked as an evaluation specialist on a variety of science education programs, including a suite of programs for the Department of Energy's Workforce Development for Teachers and Scientists (WDTS) program. This suite included science education programs for college undergraduates, community college students, pre-service teachers, and in-service teachers. For this program, she designed and managed a multi-level, multi-site evaluation plan that took individual program goals into consideration while evaluating the overall program.
