Toby Koosman

Past NIMBioS Business Manager (2008-2017)

Toby Koosman was the business manager for NIMBioS (2008 - July 2017), organizing, overseeing and troubleshooting all administrative aspects of business processing, grants management, and human resources. The NIMBioS business manager provides budget reports, handles audit requests, maintains knowledge of current fiscal and personnel policies and provides budget development assistance and other guidance to PIs. The business manager works closely with all NIMBioS program directors to develop efficient and effective procedures for hiring, purchasing, budgeting, contracting and reimbursement. Because of the interdisciplinary nature of NIMBioS' mission and programs, the business manager works with staff and faculty in many other units of the university as well as external vendors and other institutions to accomplish agreed on financial transfers and arrangements.

Koosman retired with over thirty years of experience in business management at the University of Tennessee. She is also part-time concert manager for nonprofit folk arts presenter Jubilee Community Arts and co-editor of the Tennessee Folklore Society Bulletin.

Koosman has a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
