Project Title: Evaluating Phodar digital surface models for operational forest inventory applications in the southeastern U.S.

Benjamin Branoff (Ph.D. Biology, University of Puerto Rico, 2018) was a postdoctoral fellow working on a project to generate forest volume and biomass estimates from the National Agriculture Imagery Program digital surface model data for Tennessee and Virginia. The research was conducted as a part of a Targeted Postdoctoral Fellowship in the lab of Mona Papeş. After his fellowship, Branoff accepted a postdoctoral research position in the Gulf Ecosystem Measurement and Modeling Division at the US EPA where he is exploring how to effectively model ecosystem services provisioning in multiple coastal ecosystems across the US.
