Visiting Graduate Student Fellows at NIMBioS

Not currently accepting applications.
NIMBioS has offered fellowships for visits for up to several months by graduate students interested in pursuing research with NIMBioS affiliate faculty, postdoctoral fellows or working group participants. Visiting graduate students will work on-site at NIMBioS. The program is designed to facilitate graduate student training while fostering research at the interface of mathematics and biology. Graduate students at the beginning stages of linking theory and data are strongly encouraged to apply. For more information, click here.

Project Title: Competitive stomatal behaviour

Yaojie Lu is collaborating with NIMBioS postdoctoral fellow Caroline Farrior on a project to develop a method for finding a stomatal conductance function of soil water content.

Project Title: Prediction of major histocompatibility complex class II epitopes with sparse representation and logic minimization for multiple alleles

Guerra Pallares is collaborating with Clemente Aguilar on a project to test multiple alleles for predicting epitopes by combining methodologies including logic minimization and sparse representation.

Project Title: Resource transformation by viruses: Linking cellular-level exploitation to ecological dynamics

Luis Jover is collaborating with Alison Buchan and Steve Wilhelm on a project to create a dynamical model to understand the effct of viruses in the recycling of nutrients in the oceans.

Project Title: Investigating fungal Rhizopus oryzae growth and morphology in submerged culture with agent-based modeling
Gang Wu will collaborate with with Shi Chen and Cristina Lanzas to develop a mathematical model to simulate the process of Rhizopus oryzae growth in order to investigate how various factors affect morphology.
